Time to be a buzzkill but the NWSL paying for a high-profile photographer/influencer to post photos of Ronaldo — who has faced multiple sexual assault allegations — as part of their summer of soccer to advertise a women’s soccer league……… Why.

can you explain to me what that whole project actually is? i have never felt less connected to this league than i do lately because between AI and people i dont know i feel like i’m tripping

It’s not really meant for people who already watch the NWSL, it’s a brand reach attempt for them as they try to leverage the World Cup. I am mostly in favor of it but I find this pick absolutely baffling.

i have a lot of feelings about integration opportunities but orlando isn’t even in the trailer that plays in every stadium so me missing marketing spots could be elder millennial user error, too. it’ll probably all hit my feed after tomorrow. i just want to look at something other than ronaldo

I was explicitly told that I could not take a Nikon D40x in to a World Cup match in LA because it was a “professional” camera that had a detachable lens. Shocking that FIFA doesn’t care about consistency.

Yeah, with you on this. Struggling to connect the dots on how this helps build NWSL's brand. The sexual assault allegations are reason enough for NWSL to not want to associate themselves with Ronaldo, but even more curious in this campaign is: when has Ronaldo ever shown any support to women's ⚽?
