Looking for your artistic feedback about particular totalistic cellular automata rules for crochet granny squares! Which of the following outputs do you like best? (Each is a semi-random selection of 100 generations of a rule-based algorithm) Five designs will be shown in the replies below...

hold up, if i change to a smaller rule-set and use my favorite number it is actually pretty cool. this rule is "if a cell is off and exactly one of its 4 closest neighbors is on, then the cell turns on" and "if a cell if on and none of its neighbors is on, then it stays on".

it's the introvert's "hello" rule. cells turn on to say hello if there is only one other person around. but then in the next step if any neighbors are around, the cell turns off
