Ward Maps in Cambridge is an excellent map store. It's BIG and has a ton of delightful MBTA merch that is creative and fun. I'm suspicious of most antique dealers who are just scavengers of history but Ward's owner is a real maker because he cowrote an excellent book about Boston map history.

Anne Hall Prints and Antiques in Newport is this lovely little walkup studio with all kinds of lovely natural history prints and maps. Elegant. Refined. Small. Killer location. They've been doing great work for decades.

Argosy Books doesn't need my endorsement. They're one of the oldest book sellers in the country and they have a gorgeous four story Manhattan store with this gloriously rickety elevator up to the top where they have a superb collection of maps. Their staff are all scholars, nerds and kind people.

ey, a high school friend of mine that worked for these folks. He let me hold a note signed by George Washington when I visited, which is not how I anticipated that day going. Scholar nerds indeed.
