Whoever made "Fan Control" is an absolute hero. The bane of my existence is dynamic frequency scaling on modern CPU can cause them to jump like 10° in temperate almost instantly. So if you have your system fan speed scale with temperature, they just jump between jet engine and barely audible

Fan control is also a much better and cheaper way of addressing that than getting into the fun fun world of water cooling. (Higher thermal density smooths out the temp spikes a bit faster without changing fan speeds)

Oh in that case I wouldn’t have expected a short spike to cause that much increase. I wonder why it’s struggling to dump the heat into the water

No wait this is my derp i forgot I’m feeding water temp into the mb and ramping off that

The app allows you to build custom sensors. I created a sensor that averages the temperature of all my CPU cores, then feeds into a sensor which create a 4 second rolling average of the temperature, then that feeds into the fan speed controller. Completely flattens out random temp spikes.

My system fans randomly ramping up and down constantly has been annoying me so much that I was going to reverse engineer my system's fan control software and build all this myself. Thank god someone already did it, because that is like a week long dev project. 🥰

:v LACT also has fan profiles so your LLMs aren't toggling all your fans from off to jet engines in between queries

You could also drive it based off the power draw instead of using an indirect delayed proxy like temperature.

It’s magical. Turned my NAS tower from “kind of annoying” to “unnoticeable” while also making temps better across the board.

If you leave the PC in a constant state of being hammered the fans run at a constant jet engine like hum. Today’s project is to move my equipment that I only use remotely into an actual remote location rather than under my desk. I figured as it was getting cooler in Australia it’d kinda even out…
