Built a smol demo of AWS DSQL (new Postgres database). Vote for your favorite movies: dsql.vercel.app

Some thoughts on the experience... DSQL is currently an early preview. Lots of things are missing. Especially things to help make queries really fast. For example, you can't add indexes after you add data. But you also can reindex 💀

You also can't use any extensions right now. So was hard for me to get a really fast search without any database indexes and also not being able to do something like a trigram search. Maybe there's a better way I don't know of?

The app has a fairly basic database session model. You can vote on any number of movies, one time, per session. The session is stored as a cookie.

One cool feature: I'm connecting to AWS using OIDC. No hardcoded access keys or secrets. Just my IAM role, and Vercel's OIDC federation, and we can securely connect to DSQL. First time I've used this on a project. Very nice. vercel.com/docs/securit...

One thing that could be handled better is the popcorning of search results. Need something like `<SuspenseList>` 😁

Oh yeah, also... no idea what the pricing for DSQL will be. Hopefully it's pretty competitive?
