The dismantling of CISA by the current administration made no sense to me at all - I don't see how this fit into their principles or values. I'd hold all organizations (public and private) accountable for good cyber security practices similar to financial.

these are extremists who genuinely don't want even the most rudimentary government oversight, and they lack the foresight to understand this level of extremism hurts them and the markets longer term

I get that but, what's the reason for the inconsistency - why push increased regulation by the fcc, exercise in the military, gov led drug marketplace and at the same time, deregulation of cyber security, FDA, increase in other areas - just to create turmoil to distract form the true intent?

I mean the FCC has been engaged in fake investigations as an act of censorship, but with their other hand they've broadly been deregulating and gutting consumer protection (the press just doesn't care about the latter) any inconsistency is they're just very dim autocrats swimming in corruption

why don't we have gun control? why does our for-profit healthcare system suck? why is broadband so expensive and slow? why aren't companies held accountable for lax privacy and security standards? The cause, I'm told by any number of mainstream media outlets, is AMBIGUOUS PARTISAN ANIMUS

This is taking a few leaps, but questions like yours led me to this bsky.app/profile/rais...

Piggybacking on this; I wonder if I am ascribing exceptional am to the Am Revolution compared to ensuing revolutions or not, but maybe one of the reasons for our history of elite immunity is because our revolution was an elite led one, not a popular third estate style one.

Not trumps 1st time failing cyber NatSec In Sept 2020, while several thousand 🇺🇸s were dying each day, 🇷🇺 hackers hit the entire Universal Health Services network of 400 facilities They paid $22million ransom In October that same year, same president, 400 other hospitals were hit with ransom ware.

HIPAA's got a security rule update pending. Biden's HHS put out the NPRM at the end of 2024 and it's on the agenda for May of 2026 for finalization. We'll see what happens - but the security modernization of the regulation is long overdue. The industry's been fighting it due to increased costs.

Another ransom attack? That Change Healthcare (United Healthcare co) one made life miserable for providers for a long time. And millions of Americans had their medical records stolen.
