On 13 August 2026, Ukraine repatriated the remains of Yevhen Konovalets, a prominent fascist and the first leader of the OUN, with state honors. Ukrainian neo-nazis gave him a torchlight memorial the following night. How did bluesky react? Predictably.

Western-backed newspaper "The Kyiv Independent" only mentions that Konovalets "devoted his life to the cause of Ukraine's independence" and was later assassinated. The linked articles does not mention his fascist tendencies or his overt xenophobia. archive.ph/PISN1

Regarding the event, uahistory.bsky.social wrote that Konovalets "devoted his life to an independent Ukraine and was assassinated by a Soviet agent for it." Now he "will rest in the free Ukraine he fought for" after "nearly nine decades in exile." archive.ph/CQEVk
