I don't know if everyone knows this, but as a YouTube creator, when you are looking at people's comments on your videos, it will try to auto-suggest things you could say in reply. I assume these replies are AI-generated. They are often spot on, and frankly it's a bit unsettling.

As you'd expect, it tries to predict what I would say in response. But it is eerily accurate at times. It must be parsing the content of the video itself and my other responses - possibly across all videos? - because not only does it answer questions correctly a lot, it often *sounds* like me.

I never use the suggested replies, but I have to admit it's honestly more as an act of protest than because the responses are bad. That's what makes me mad; they're too freaking good. Or perhaps I'm too predictable.

I've always tried to write odd/quirky comments in an attempt to build a secondary discord community for my game. If a commenter thinks "that's interesting, let's check the discord", I've succeeded. That said, simple comments such as "great job" don't help reply eccentricity.

I didn't - and won't - use the AI auto comments. It means that I'm now having to think of very "me" replies to make it obvious that I'm not using the auto comments. Saying thank you to the simple comments no longer meets the bar for me!

Someone actually asked me a while back if I had an automated reply bot or something. They asked because they noticed that I very frequently replied to thank people when they said nice things to me 😝 I guess I do that more than they expected from a creator with a somewhat large following 😅
