"Maybe if he had a mic I would have heard him out. Instead I stabbed him to death, took his stuff, and didn’t even extract afterwards because I had more looting to do."
Yep, the right call. The mayhem in this just feels so freeing.
And the best part to me is that while destiny struggled to maintain a vision and find an identity and footing over and over, marathon has so much intentionality like they were fully prepared in advance with what it is
I think that arc raiders introduced the mainstream to the concept of extraction shooters but marathon is truly the next step evolving the genre the way tarkov moved the division dark zone into a full game. Marathon is just such a long list of smart ideas and it’s just so fucking cool to play
Idk why, probably unfair to the game, but I'm kinda bummed there's no, like, visual character customization or a character creator type thing? Reading about earning rep and having a between-match inventory feels at odds with hero shooter stock characters with their own defined aesthetics.
It is much more class shooter than hero shooter. They don't have any personas really as they are just shells that you inhabit. They do have a decent number of skins for each runner, all the guns, user icons, and user banners.
They are classes but they are really more of a set of skills rather than a full on hero character. They look different but not that different. Mostly faces.
