The death penalty is a moral abomination. State-sanctioned barbarism pushed by incompetent morons and sanctioned by the Supreme Court. Absolute ghoul shit. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

“I am not afraid to die. I’m only nervous about the process.” Just an unbelievable failure of governing and the legal system and basic decency.

This has brought up so many memories. There were always anti death penalty activists on Riverside Drive by the men’s prison and it always became very tense when there was any chance of an execution happening. I’m horrified that our government does this. It’s torture.
I studied correctional healthcare when I was getting my MSN Nurse Practitioner degree at Vanderbilt and spent a short time at the Women’s Prison. I remember having a short interaction through the cell door with her. It must have been close to when she was convicted.
How are you taking the victim into consideration at all? She was tortured & beat 4 over 30 minutes. During the attack, a pentagram was carved into Slemmer's chest, and Pike eventually bludgeoned her to death, keeping a piece of Slemmer's skull as a souvenir @stephenking.bsky.social ”the green mile”
