i always thought by now i'd have interesting things to say but i dont. i can observe and understand a thoughtful conversation but i find it hard to keep up in one myself so i end up saying way less than i wanted to. i had this issue growing up but it never seems like it was an issue to others i know

i always hated doing presentations at school. i never liked talking on the phone with someone i dont know. i cant think of something to say to someone im just meeting. all these things people do so easily and comfortably while im still learning how to do it. maybe its just incompetence on my part

the fact that im writing about this instead of anything else really shows just how boring i am to talk to. i couldve gone without saying any of this and leave you thinking im a really cool guy with interesting things to say but no, im deciding to.. break the illusion.. i guess lol, if there was one

I feel like getting to this point shows some kind of change imo. It really is a skill like anything else to be conversational and it's something you can build over time

ironically, saying something (even if it's lamenting about having nothing) is a greater deal in having something to talk about than being silent. all conversations start with having anything to say. whether it's something in mind, an observation, or shared interest

also, pardon the assumption, but you aren't any lesser for not speaking more like in art, communication is also a skill. some people have spent more of their time socializing and refining it than others. you not starting more on command doesn't make you lesser in conversations

I know it might not feel that way but I don’t think sharing any of this would make anyone think less of you! I’m sure people would even feel relieved knowing someone else was going through the same thing they were. I’ve struggled with it basically my whole life.

It’s difficult feeling like you’re the only one who just can’t keep up. I have many friends that are able to share their thoughts on so many things, but when I’m in the hot seat, I struggle to find my words and trip on every single thought along the way. It gets hard not to compare myself.

But I just have to remind myself that there’s more to me than my words. My personality and passions exist in other forms, and they are just as cool. I’m not boring just because I struggle with conversation. I don’t know if any of this helps but I mostly just wanted you to know that you weren’t alone
