The equivalent of a congressional district has just elected a candidate from a party roughly comparable to the DSA. Does that really qualify as “insane” versus, y’know, the events on any given day in US politics right now?

Honest question: why are UK politics so insane? Obvious glass houses situation, so, yes, stipulated but what gives?

Americans just have a bit of a vicarious thing with the UK where they insist on pretending we're worse or equal to them. It's just a coping mechanism for how terrible things are going over there with a side order of their incredible ignorance to things outside.

This 👆 Main parties not meeting people’s needs/reality, progressive vote underestimated in media discourse, party infighting leading to electorate being forgotten, etc, etc. seems pretty straightforward to me
