You know after Posts and Shorts, I didn't think YouTube could get any worse, but they've outdone themselves this time with "Playables" I simply do not understand who is making these decisions, YouTube is a video site, why does it need shitty phone games that keep putting themselves in my feed

I was a long-term consumer because YT was always a good replacement for television for me. Nowadays it turns more and more into an annoying platform and I try to stay away from it as much as I can. Sad but true

Thankfully when I type "y" into my browser, it autocompletes to the subscriptions page, and my Android launcher lets me make a home screen link to the app's subscription page, so I can usually avoid junk, but, not posts/shorts...

I saw the Netflix iOS app is doing mobile games too – above the fold, no less. It’s a slippery slope before becoming an app line PayPay, where every square centimetre of the app holds a button to a product offering.

Unsolicited advice (sorry); what made the most difference for me was uninstalling the native YouTube-app, instead install socialfocus.app and force myself to only interact with YouTube through the browser. Hiding shorts, feed etc with SocialFocus made for a more healthy relationship with YouTube.
