“…As monetization and AI evolve and influence this future, we will not chase short-term efficiency or flood our ecosystem with soulless AI slop. Games are and always will be art, crafted by humans, and created with the most innovative technology provided by us."” I wonder how long that will last.

I don't get it. At the very least, Satya and his fellow C-level cronies KNOW this is a bubble. That only him and a select few will come through this with huge, insider trading-based exit strategy windfalls. So why torpedo everything else?

If there was ONE thing I'd expect these imbeciles to understand, it would be money. They can crash the whole electronics industry by profiting from the bubble without also burning their original business to the ground. I guess I should take solace in not being able to understand sociopaths.

Your first sentence is the mistake. They HAVE money, so people assume they understand money, but having something and understanding it are not the same. I have a car, but doesn't mean I understand all the engineering in it, but it's like everyone saw that and brought me their cars for repair anyway.

Really was looking forward to the next Xbox console. This is really bad news for the gaming industry. Nintendo and Sony continue to be lackluster as well. Might be time to final ditch the consoles ecosystem and migrate to PC

Real talk. There are many of us who have invested a lot of money in the Xbox eco system since the beginning. If this is signs of the end, we're fucked.

I cancelled auto renew on my Game Pass Ultimate about 3 months ago. On September it runs out. I will not be renewing. I am down to PC, Ps5, and Switch. I may cancel PlayStation Plus next. The gaming industry is cooked.

Okay wait wait wait so the person in charge now is going to be soneone who spent 2 years in marketing. Hopped to Porch group. Hopped to Meta during covid. Hopped to Instacart as COO. Then hopped back to Microsoft 2 years ago for core AI. That. Seems bad.

That's the typical MS advancement path. Stay any longer in one position/group and you are not "career-orieinted." Quoth the spouse of a MS alumni, who was formerly in the hierachy of what used to be "Microsoft Press" until they RIF'd the entire division.

Well, that drags teeth. It's bad enough that Microsoft has shoved its AI cock down the throat of every product that used to be flagship and made them unreliable and unusable for serious professionals. Now they are sinking the only remaining useful platform remaining from the glory days.

I mean, seriously, at ths point? I'm not only looking for non-AI-infected tools for writing and publishing but am actively avoiding platforms that enable it by defalt if I am unable to disable it. (And I absolutelhy loathe that I am more or less forced to engage with Meta & Alphabet.)

Over invested in AI that no one asked for and sank their gaming brand at the same time. Round of applause (again) for MS for continuing to make smart, user friendly decisions 🙄 /s

well it's official: xbox is dead. had a good run. i guess I better beat all the games in my backlog and sell my series x before it turns into a doorstop

I would - either I save the ship and take all the credit, or the ship sinks and I take 0 blame cuz it was already sinking

Let me get this straight… the guy in charge of the product line nobody wants is now in charge of the product line Microsoft has lost all interest in? Man, I’d love a job where there was literally no way to succeed but I’d be paid stupid money all day long.

Dude killed physical media for xbox games and turned the brand into a subscription service while leaving the hardware division to pretty much die. Almost all of their post xbox one era games that weren't forza or a timed exclusive were mediocre or above average.

Replacing a passionate but ill-equipped executive with an incompetent AI shill will make what you think is rock bottom look like paradise It absolutely can be worse than Phil and it will 100% get worse. Good luck
