Was there more the movie than a jacked dude in tight leather killing vampires? Did Blade deliver a Jacobean type soliloquy somewhere in the second act that I missed? …. Ngl, that would be sweet.. A dramatic pause, a soft spotlight.. then a stream of consciousness from Mahershala.

You know, one of the things I found so refreshing about Superman was that it had superheroes and aliens and robots and flying dogs and kaiju and it felt absolutely zero need to give me a long-winded explanation of how any of it got there. Apropos of nothing.

Marvel returns to small-scale, monster of the week story telling. separated from the bloated continuity and borrowed story time to plug the next Avengers movie ... I have literally already written the review.

I think all of the big grand crossover stuff should exist exclusively in the post credit stingers and not even make sense continuity-wise with the rest of the shows. If Moon Knight has to interact with Doctor Strange I want to see it in irrelevant 40 second segments only.

I heard Ryan Coogler wanted to make Blade, but Marvel wouldn't let him make what he wanted out of it so he left the project and converted it into Sinners which is the best movie I've seen this year.

It sounds like Blade had a big role in the whole Kang phase & when that imploded, they threw out their scripts. They can give him his own universe but it sounds like they still want to do Midnight Suns. Might mean getting Isaac back as Moonknight, a new Ghost Rider, etc, so broader than just vamps.

Look, maybe this take isn't popular, but if it's the leather outfit that's holding things up, I'd watch Mahershala Ali playing Blade even if he wore no costume at all.

We didn't want to make anything that would be "fun" or "rad as hell" as we really wanted to try to shoehorn in something like a collab between The Eternals and also maybe some multiverse bullshit.

lol at first i thought "thats the stupidest thing I have read today", but then i remembered that Marvel properties are all under the passionless, conservative MCU-US Air Force brand now and this is exactly how they'd think

Yeah they said " We couldn't figure out some convoluted ass scheme to tie this movie into the MCU as a whole instead of a badass leather jacket vampire slayer stand alone so we have blackballed it until then" wrong.

Ali is already 51 & they are a minimum of 3 years away from putting out a Blade movie. Once these characters enter the MCU, they are usually there for 10+ years. So, we are gonna have a 65 year old Blade. I'm sure he'd kill it, but maybe it's time to think about recasting with a 30-40 year old actor

Not as such; it pulls from a couple of films and series— it’s certainly the most *throughline* the non-Spidey films have had in a while! But it wasn’t straight up Black Widiw 2. The way Civil War was not literally an Iron Man sequel I guess?
