Honestly, the folks that suddenly are deleting their @X account make me very sad. There was a time when Twitter was a place where people shared whatever they wanted and we could connect with a wide variety of content (humor, tech, entertainment, faith, and even politics) 1/7

... but somewhere along the way someone decided that ever single thing had to be coded red or blue, conservative or liberal, us or them. The ability to have a discussion about anything (even art or programming) would be threated by cancel-culture herd mentality. 2/7

This ruined Twitter for many, mostly those that just wanted to have fun, or learn, or connect with disparate opinions. The ability to form loose-knit communities was destroyed by the people who tried to control the entire discourse as if there was only one true viewpoint 3/7

... and now, with the dynamic suddenly shifted away from the authoritarian way that Twitter staff and the shout-down community created, those authoritarians are picking up their tents and moving on to another echo chamber. 4/7

I've seen this before, in the way that people moved from inner-city to outer-city to suburban to rural AND BACK as the people that entered "their" community didn't match the purity tests, and eventually became too prevalent to allow the former power-brokers to tolerate. 5/7
