I pay $100 a month for Xero (accounting software), and I do wonder if upgrading to Claude Code Max for a month or two would pay for itself to write a robust replacement. It probably won’t get bank feed imports right, but that’s broken in Xero for some accounts anyway.

Look, I'm shelling out for the Claude Code max plan because having totally personalized software is bonkers! I literally wouldn't have made any of this stuff otherwise. AGI, not AGI, this is a wild productivity jump

I have been building a bootstrapped Xero like accounting SaaS for three years now. The last few months using a lot of agentic coding. Accounting is a deep deep rabbit hole. Agentic coding mostly just helped me feel less burned out and have fewer migraines.

A general purpose accounting platform (and then hosting/marketing/running etc) is probably a deep hole, but something tailored for a single user (basically just book-keeping, GST, P&L reports) feels like it should be manageable. Tbh I’m mostly just irritated by the constant Xero price hikes.

I'm rubbing my hands in glee over the price hikes. Imma undercut these mofos so hard :D Right now I'm bootstrapping in an undeserved niche. But I'm building so I can grow into the general market later, and I'm laser focused on keeping costs down. No cloud except bucket storage.

What’s the link? I will check out your platform. Whenever I search for Xero how-tos, I see a lot of people who feel the same as me. We don’t mind price increases if they’re accompanied by improvements and new features. Xero has just been squeezing everyone because they can.
