I pay $100 a month for Xero (accounting software), and I do wonder if upgrading to Claude Code Max for a month or two would pay for itself to write a robust replacement. It probably won’t get bank feed imports right, but that’s broken in Xero for some accounts anyway.

Look, I'm shelling out for the Claude Code max plan because having totally personalized software is bonkers! I literally wouldn't have made any of this stuff otherwise. AGI, not AGI, this is a wild productivity jump

One of the last thing I'd try: the core functionality would be fine, but errors could be quite costly years later when the tax audit comes, plus some bundled compliance requirements are impractical in DIY. Anything adjacent, like an invoice maker, custom preprocessing or reporting, yes.

I'm not convinced, because my requirements really are dead simple. I often think I could get away with a versioned spreadsheet. If it's all fixed assets/depreciation schedules, non-taxable etc, that's def. more complicated (but I don't, and I'm not sure Xero even supports that out of the box).
