What are your secrets for fast image loading?

The images themselves in the video will already have mostly been cached by the browser (but the full virtualization of the message pane coupled with image lazy loading, highly optimized thumbnailing, and aggressive server-side caching do help significantly.)

The main magic trick that Chatto pulls off is that literally *every* data read op is performed either against a super-fast KV bucket or, for almost all data that is in the hot path, directly in the memory of the process that's handling your request.
