i should be numb to it but that new call of duty is so on its face evil which combined with Who Published It just makes me feel deeply sad

its got a mission where you play as north korea and its like press X to execute civilians for the supreme leader which just hits different when that's a bullet point in basically a side project for a corporation currently actively entwined with one of The Great Atrocities Of History

ten years ago as a critic i would respond by analysing it as a piece of propaganda, considering how it produces and reflects culture but that feels so pointless now. who cares. you just look once and see what it is. they aren't hiding it. it is funded by and funding in turn an actual genocide

Last I played was first modern warfare reboot, for review, after having touched nothing since Black Ops, and that early level with the house raid was one of the grimiest things I've seen in a game, in a game full of grimy shit. Reading peer's reviews about "gun feel" made me feel insane

It feels so “ailing empire” too. Out of baddies that they can use due to overuse or aging out, they have to go to NK after many a media franchise has tried and failed miserably to make them the new Soviet drop-in

the last time they did this it ended with a cyborg leftist throwing totalitarian kevin spacey off a skyscraper. on the xbox 360.

i had Expectations the moment i saw the game's logo, realized they had chopped up hangul to make the "4," and was like "oh this one's gonna get *extra* weird isn't it" "No Russian but it's North Korea this time" was still not on my bingo card
