still laughing at my evil list of every final fantasy game

bckl.gg'Final Fantasy Extended Canon' a list of games by headfallsoff | Backloggdevery time someone plays all the Final Fantasy games they only play the mainline ones well fuck you i made this to torture you this is every Final Fantasy every tangentially connected game every spiritual successor every clone every fan game and total conversion even every tangentially connected games spiritual successors spiritual successors sci fi spin off you will never beat every Final Fantasy game serious addition there was some logic to this behind just shitposting this is not a list of every game that has final fantasy characters in it in terms of the non FF games I wanted more a list of games that have similar DNA or are directly inspired by the series this is a weirdly difficult task as while Dragon Quest inspired a legion of clones as the first of its kind FF among them its influence is usually far more subtle for a game as influential and epoch shifting as FF7 there are very very few FF7likes and its hard to define what that would even be outside of just also an RPG id like to thank lord of the rings the third age for making this extremely easy anyway thats why the list is the way it is and why ive included what i have and also left out what i have its far more about the evolution of the series thematically including the offshoots and seeds that came from it than it is about tracking the series as a brand thats why SaGa games are on here but not Chocobo games which is all to say yes i know about Mario Sports yes I know about Tekken etc etc feel free to make your own list lmao one final note all the mobile games included have their cutscenes backed up on youtube this is intended to be theoretically doable obviously you cant play them anymore but you can still experience FF Mobiuss story seeing how it fits in to the context of toriyamas work in the series etc etc thats why shit like All the Bravest and First Soldier are not

Biggest surprises on here for me are the digital devil saga duo logo and reynatis. Also triangle strategy bc i thought that one was supposed to be duped fire emblem, where octopath is duped ff5

note should be something like this got adopted, culturally, into final fantasy discourse making it mandatory for all arguments going forward

No note on how Final Fantasy Adventure is the first Mana game? Visually this is a great list to look at. Thank you for putting so much effort into it.

Feeling absolutely winded by the rollercoaster of going "What's Reynatis" into getting excited when I saw the note into facing tragedy when I saw the general review tenure. I do love a messy 7/10 though so adding it to my list Tri-Acelikes list.

"even every tangentially connected game's spiritual successor's spiritual successor's sci fi spin off" lmao there's no way that-(thinks again) holy shit

hmm you're right about shadow madness but i think silver is just another ps1 rpg. honestly this was the hardest part about this is what on earth makes a game a direct riff on final fantasy and not just a dragon quest clone or an rpg in general, its weirdly difficult for how massive the series is
