Game is bad (like for real), but the wave of pure ragebait content and chaos in the reviews... it's just too much. Many reviews don't even address the core issues with this game. This is just hate-watch farming.

r/TwoBestFriendsPlay, which is like, second best sub for everything and is usually pretty chill about this type of thing was having weekly threads about the game having no marketing and then five threads after release I'm tired already

Had to leave that subreddit after being a fan of the boys since the start, they get hyperfixated on a new thing to shit on and don't stop until they find something else to do so. Pat tends to throw gasoline on the flames himself, too. (well, mostly left cause transphobia, but)

I hate to be harping on about this game to no one in particular but I don’t think there has been a clearer sign in a decade of CLEAR signs that everyone in the gaming space is addicted to nothing but negativity and wants a Concord every week to dogpile, not even just chuds. It’s bad. Unhealthy.

🌙 so insanely fucking weird and uncomfortable that John Highguard’s hair is edited on the last 2 thumbnails to make him look more like a minority so the target audience (chuds) can bodly proclaim that the game failed because of “wokeness” or whatever. surely not concerning.

🌙 ok i will take the L on this one, i was literally just comparing the design in the cover art/first thumbnail to the bottom two and it looked like a completely different color and shape

On the one hand Highguard looked super mid and was unfortunately a case of accurately judging by the cover. But also goddamn its just a 'meh' game and it's free. People gotta chill. This ain't Concord.

It mostly ain't Concord by merit of not costing 40 dollars, but to be fair that was Concord's greatest sin so that alone is a notable improvement

tbh I think Highguard's greatest sin is requiring Secure Boot/TPM and Easter Anti-Cheat. And maybe the designs on the guns being boring as shit. The game itself is just... "Meh".

I feel so bad for them, they wanted to do a shadow drop and Geoff Keighly was like "no let me set insane expectations for you, it will be so cool". Not saying it's good, but it's only tanking bc people who would never have given it a thought otherwise are playing it. Most trash has positive reviews

I can see why the devs wanted to shadow drop the game with no advertising lead up. Small controlled group of early adopters vs a large influx of folk with preconceived opinions

Clickbait negativity grifters. It's a trend on social media and since it's actually a current succesfull method to farm impressions, they'll keep doing it. Best thing to do is to ignore, DON'T comment (that adds to their numbers) click: "don't recommend channel" and move on. They feeds on reactions.

I just realized we're at the point where they can just use AI to edit game characters to look in however way they want and how miserably sad that is.

people acting like they've been stabbed in the back by their best friend because a studio that just popped up put out a free game that's not for everyone

This game was announced a month ago, I don't believe any of these clowns sincerely give a shit about Highguard either way

It sucks because there are legitimate reasons to hate the game and everything it stands for (forced root access, the deliberate exclusion of Linux users when it otherwise runs well on Linux, etc.) but all the reactionary ragebait grifters are turning discussion around the game into a shitshow.

>angry white man yelling on cover (literally their demographic) >game is still somehow "woke" or whatever God these people are such pathetic piss babies.
