That would require people training models to act in an ethical manner, and I don't have a lot of faith that they would with the amount of VC money flooding the space

Capitalist organizations 'respecting' user-consent/opt-out/websit-declarations like `robots.txt` is an idea from a bygone era of the internet. Late-capitalism will steal everything it can, it's neo-colonialism and any semblance of choice is an illusion.
