This is terrible. I’m afraid to say it but I don’t think in our lifetime the US will recover the international trust it had. We can’t trust the GOP, since they won’t even save their own country.

The integrity may be restored by new leaders; the competence will be more difficult. Some lawyers will be reluctant to sign up for what may be 4-year hitches. The lawyers who provide training won’t have the same experience. And that’s assuming the new low-level political hires will be fired.

Not without cleaning house. But that’s going to have to be true of everything Trump infected. I don’t think the Republican Party will ever recover though.

It’s genuinely hard to imagine after the debacle of the past few years. Integrity earned over generations has been decimated in a matter of months.

It's rough. I have worked with a lot of line prosecutors at DOJ and, while they can be assed, their competence has generally been clear. That benefit of the doubt can't exist any longer.
