I'm starting a new meetup called CORE—the Central Ohio Radio Enthusiasts. It's for radio and radio-adjacent interests. It's not a ham radio club, we talk about that, but also GMRS, mesh networks like Meshtastic, Reticulum, and HaLow, software-defined radio, and shortwave listening.

We're just on Discord for now (might be moving soon, never know) but are looking for a venue for in person meetups. So if you have a place or know of a place, lemme know. And, of course, we want to get the word out. All the details can be found at core.radio.

core.radioCORE: Central Ohio Radio EnthusiastsCORE is an informal radio community in central Ohio. No experience needed — beginners, curious newcomers, and seasoned hams all welcome. Ham radio, GMRS, Meshtastic, SDR, LoRa, and more.

Guy, I got a message that the Discord invite code from your website is invalid after I clicked on it. Message says "This invite may be expired or you might not have permission to join."

I finally succeeded in joining CORE with your new weblink. I had to do it via the Discord app for Windows 11 instead of using Discord in my web browser.

I think Discord did not work for me in web because: Browser Security Is Blocking It (Most Common) The web version depends on: Cookies Local storage JavaScript My browser privacy extensions If any of those are blocked, login can fail or loop forever.

This is the exact problem with web apps that treat your browser as a storage layer. The better pattern is streaming state ephemerally over a direct connection so the browser holds nothing persistent - no cookies, no localStorage, nothing to block or leak.

I will add something else that might be relevant to why I am getting errors trying to get into your Discord group - I cannot get into any Discord server now. Something is hosed up on my Discord account where it needs some type of email verification that I haven't been able to fix.

Thanks Guy - I tried your new weblink and got the same error. Is it possible for you to also set up an email list for your group so that you don't need a lot of time debugging a lot of users' Discord problems?

I plan to set up a mailing list to announce meetings and things like that. Not a discussion mailing list, just announcements. Once I get it set up I'll publish that on the website. Once you get your Discord issues resolved, that's the place to be. It's where all the discussion is happening.
