None of us can cancel everything. But all of us can cancel SOMETHING. One eminently practical suggestion: Does your family have more than one Amazon Prime account? You absolutely don't need more than one! Cancel one of those tonight!

I have friends who call and ask me to order things for them who mostly remember to pay me back and you could also consider being that friend for someone that wants to cancel. I offered to be that friend to someone as a backup, and they canceled and realized they actually could live without it.

I switched to getting all my impulse or harder to find items on eBay instead of amazon. It does take longer to arrive but not much longer. You can get all the same stuff. Cosmetics, books, electronics, &c. It’s great

It was years ago now, but I do think there was an adjustment period. But you stop thinking of Amazon as an option and that’s it. If something is too expensive to ship, then you get it from a place in town. Or you just don’t get it until you can afford it. It’s a little more work but it feels better!

I hate that they’re bricking older model Kindles. I just want a “dumb” e-reader for only books. Also (if you’re not already doing so), don’t buy books from Amazon. Get ‘em free thru connecting your local/county library card to the Libby App - and of course buy downloads/books directly from authors.

Again, I appreciate this suggestion, but I already own thousands of books on Kindle. If there were a way to download them, which there should be, it's crazy that I don't own what I've paid for, I would do so and switch to another platform immediately.

Thank you - someone mentioned Libro recently in a larger conversation, but since I haven't done many audiobooks I wasn't sure what to look for. Will go check it out! I ❤️ Bookshop & have been spreading wealth around by moving down the list of local stores each time I order. :)

I cancelled Microsoft 365 and switched to stand-alone installations like this just over a year ago. Biggest drawback as far as I can tell is that in October 2026, Microsoft will stop providing security updates for Office 2021. support.microsoft.com/en-us/office...

I cancelled my Home Depot online account because they were allowing ICE to stage in their parking lots. Felt great! Now I just buy from local hardware stores. Works fine!

I’ve been paying for 365 for years bc when I originally signed up through the excel app, it made the subscription through Best Buy w/o creating a BB account and now neither MS nor BB could cancel it, but I finally had enough and just reported my card lost so the next auto renew won’t go through.
