Guys I can’t keep doing this independently. I need a job. If you know of a place—advocacy, OSINT org, think tank, left media, etc—where I could take this work in-house, pls let me know. I admire the folks making independent work for them, but I am collapsing under the weight and the lack of impact.

A few minutes ago, two ICE flights operated by Journey Aviation landed in Eswatini, likely another third-country removal of immigrants to a maximum security prison there. Nineteen people have already been sent there on previous ICE flights in the last nine months. Only two have been released.

This eventually killed our nonprofit, Cursor, Inc. after a very successful run. Progressives just don't invest in media. Been that way for more than 40 years. It was the main point of Robert Parry (Consortium News) career. They'll spend literally billions every 4 years then nothing in between

They'll spend many millions to poll the electorate, trying to shape their message to meet the views of masses propagandized by Republican billionaire owned media. Won't spend a penny to change people's minds about things or to clarify what is really going on.

This argument btw, is the exact opposite of what Republicans do. They will never ever compromise on their extreme agenda - they'll do everything possible, legal or not - cheat, steal, and lie to get the vote totals in their favor. They could care less what polls say, it's always pedal to the metal

The argument made by progressives with actual purse strings is that if they take money away from feeding the hungry or housing the homeless PEOPLE WILL DIE. Well, yes, but MORE will die from governance that surrenders issues to billionaires

That’s what I’ve been doing since January. I’ve made $15,000 and a 10,000 compliments, and everyone wants me come speak to their group or their podcast, but no one wants to hire me FT. I hate capitalism but if this work is so valuable (I believe it is) it seems like someone would pay me for it.

Right. My research will be most valuable in a few years, if/when we are lucky enough to get the accountability stage. But I think the business/contractor connections are also really valuable now.

You and JJ in DC are the sole, reliable sources of this information I see 1. It'd great if some liberal billionaires or people with money actually started hiring journalists or sponsoring their work 2. Short of that perhaps community funding. Its tight for everyone but some things are worth it

How about liberals with $500 million? $50m? $30m or $10m already in a private foundation or a DAF that they can’t give to their kids but could fund a whole ICE tracking center? They exist. They’re just walled off by financial advisors & “family offices” so billions of dollars just sit around.

Medias have a lot more money that they want you to realize Thousands of data trackers, they pay each one of them They also got the money to pay employees in places like California, New York etc => most expansive places in the world

I feel like MacKenzie Scott would have good reason to just give you $100K, no strings attached, and then help you figure something out for the longterm. Unfortunately, I don’t know her or know anyone who knows her… So, does anyone have a line to MacKenzie Scott to help advocate for this??

I don’t mean tell me about the existence of an org; respectfully, I have probably already looked into it. I mean if you have inside info about an org with financial ability to take me on and could help my research have more impact. I feel like I’m shouting into the wind.

The problem is because I have been advocating on this, I have made myself unemployable by the vast majority of media cos, the thing for which I have the most work experience. I have tried to do the right thing for immigrants’ sake, but it has put me in a real bind professionally. Kinda fucked tbh

Hang in there Gillian - do what's best for you. You've gone way above & beyond what could be expected of anyone seeking justice. Plus you never know when a second act is at hand.

This is what I've been saying: never use your real identity online Except if you're a politician / journalist publishing your work for your workplace People complain about AI voice, but it allows anonymity (AI channels can be annoying though) VPN + private windows + 1 browser per usage: always
