“That’s got the company’s dedicated user base of software engineers and coders chuffed, to say the least.” Uhhhh… what do they think chuffed means?

Well the lifecycle of Artificial Intelligence is over 🙌 Add that to the error-ridden outputs, the environmental damage, the potential mental health impacts for users, and the concerns about copyright violations when AI tools are trained on existing works. www.wired.com/story/genera...

wired.comThe AI Backlash Keeps Growing StrongerAs generative artificial intelligence tools continue to proliferate, pushback against the technology and its negative impacts grows stronger.

I think about this every time I am confronted with the fact that people are paying $20/mo to get unlimited prompts on things like the o3 model, which can take a couple of minutes to process. I'm guessing that each of these prompts costs a couple of pennies, if not more.

Come to think of it, I have done that once, years ago - to the CEO of the company I worked for at the time when he considered investing in generative AI, around 2018-2019. He didn't listen because he's a CEO and I'm a nerd. Oh well. That was millions down the drain for him back then.

Don't worry though, they solved the cash flow problem by 'restructuring' and firing staff nearing retirement age, forcing them into impossible positions and fire them when they declined.

OpenAI is an Enron-level bomb just waiting to implode. I’m not sure what happens to the tech industry once the largest company in the only sector with any claims to shareholder returns goes tits up, but probably nothing good.

I hope ai fails to be broadly adopted as much as anyone but I don't think complaints about price hikes are meaningful. Is the ai coding assistant cheaper than hiring more developers? If so then people will pay for it. If not, then they won't. The business plan was always the first taste is free.

Yep, been saying this for at least a year now. Its a huge bubble and the pop is imminent. Its so big it will take a big chunk of the economy with it, which due to poor administration is already in a weak state. A great depression is coming.

how TF would Ed Zitron be able to predict this type of outcome. Also the more likely next ‘subprime’ moment is crypto which is pervasive throughout our financial system not this shit company which is propped up by billionaire angel investors

Zitron calls Zitron notes Per Zitron Zitron wrote Per Zitron Zitron sums it up my brother, when half the paragraphs in your piece are directly saying "this other article said" and the other half are single-sentence connectors, you have not done journalism. You have committed very lazy theft.
