These police appear insane. There have always been people, including cops, who enjoy cruelty and brutality. I have been lucky enough to have known cops who were good and decent people. Trump is a man who enjoys cruelty & brutality, therefore, he encourages the A-holes who love DJT to do their worst.

Brutally beaten for using their free speech rights to protest in support of Ayman Soliman, a 51-year-old Egyptian national who worked as a Muslim chaplain at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and was recently detained while checking in with immigration officials. #AbolishICE #AbolishDHS #NoFascistUSA

When people use words like “defund” and “reform” and “abolish”. This is exactly what they are talking about. Peaceful unarmed protestors attacked viciously by roided up cops armed with riot guns. It was unnecessary and uncalled for. And counter productive as this serves as a recruiting poster.

Wow, you do realize HE STOLE THIS ELECTION, RIGHT? Please don't lump all of us Americans together like that. Yes, our country is broken and a psychopathic malignant narcissist currently occupies OUR White House. But HE STOLE THE DAMN ELECTION WITH ELONS HELP AND STARLINK. Have some compassion FFS.😡

It's not a matter of compassion. Here in Brazil we suffer from the same problem, only instead of a madman they put a thief in the presidency who tried a coup copying yours. The fact is that those in power want a non-thinking mass, easier to manipulate. Will we be the exception or the majority?

Trump got barely more than half the vote (slightly less counting 3rd parties). South Korea elected a nutter who tried to start a war as part of a coup attempt. And Nazi offshoot parties are gathering strength across most of Europe. Don't pretend Americans are better or worse than anyone else.

Here in Brazil we suffer from the same problem, only instead of a madman they put a thief in the presidency who tried a coup copying yours. It's the right wing around the world gaining freedom to talk about misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, and death to the poor.

Here in Brazil we suffer from the same problem, only instead of a madman they put a thief in the presidency who tried a coup copying yours. The fact is that those in power want to have a non-thinking mass, easier to manipulate. Which 1/3 will we be part of?

I couldn’t finish watching this. THIS is what people voted for. THIS is what Congress is allowing and supporting. THIS is what Trump is celebrating on our 250 anniversary. THIS has to be stopped.

This footage from the July 2025 incident is more graphic than any news story. None of the media stories I read showed footage of Officer Stayton repeatedly punching the demonstrator. The film was strongly edited to understate the situation. Thank you for sharing.

what in the world did I just witness? is that real? surely not! I'm shocked to my core, if that's all real they need to be arrested and put in prison, that has disgusted me so much, utterly horrific!

This is ridiculous and the cop that keeps hitting the young man should be fired. Police are no longer protectors of citizens. They are abusers of citizens. I have lost all respect for local police. They are suppose to serve and protect, not beat up and arrest non violent citizens.

The Supreme Court ruled that police have no duty to protect citizens unless you are in their custody. So, police can watch you get murdered and do nothing. Even if you are in custody, if you are brutalized, any judgment you get is paid by your taxes and the cop will get hired in the next town over.

Think about what more melinated folks have endured when faced with law enforcement. Instructions are unclear, and every unexpected action puts one in danger of dying right away. This video illustrates what happens even with compliance. Cruelty is a human problem. Apartheid existed in the 20th century

Thanks for letting me know. Doesn't change my opinion that other military personnel need to speak up too. I hope he is doing well in his civilian life.

There are many, many safe, normal and very pleasant countries on this planet. I know coz I’ve been to many of them and I live in one. This sort of violence is the exception, not the norm and no one should be fooled into thinking most other countries are like this just because SOME are

Oh Jesus Christ. "Safe countries." Yes many countries are safe if you are white and have money - more so if you are straight, male, and able-bodied. The U.S. is one of them. That doesn't have any relevance to the conversation, however.

Maybe but the handful of countries (all with relatively small populations) that do a good job of protecting human rights give you relatively limited options for being tourist. Like Denmark is a very nice country, but once you've spent a week there I wouldn't rush to go back.

Ok, is that the only human rights abuse you're worried about? Why not just say that then, instead of "human rights" since the one is narrow - being punched by the police - and the other encompasses that & about a million other things - including things the bulk of Europe is shit on.

Then, from someone who spent 2 decades working in international human rights, you lack knowledge regarding the state of human rights in the world. The U.S. does a mediocre job respecting human rights. Very few governments do better & that's commentary on how bad governments are on the issue.

I bet the vast majority of those places with worse human rights violations than the US have been influenced by US corporate expansionism in some manner. SE-Asia. South America. Africa. The Middle East. None of them had police states until after the US had got their grubby claws on their politics.

Why are you so militantly ignorant? It takes very little knowledge of history and the world to know that there are fewer police states now than before the U.S. existed. U.S. influence has done great harm & great good but on average actually led to more democracy around the world.

I'd bet a quick look at where you live and travel to would be exposing. Not disagreeing about the main point, but folk count on Americans not knowing about many other nations w posts like this.

Of course you don't. "Are you saying Americans are ignorant?" About many other nations, yes Americans know about as much about others as others 'know' about us. A trip to any other nation shows how their police act, that you don't post this about your own nation exposes you.

This is NOT BREAKING, unless something that happened a year ago can be considered "breaking news." This feels intentionally misleading, an attempt to stoke anger, fear & division. Otherwise, the date would have been included. Appreciate info about what, if any, consequences these officers faced.

All the successive abuse from police is unnecessary I call them pussies with a fucking badge they're failure to the cloth and the badge disgraceful you can do things without hurting shooting or killing someone as your first thought because you're a coward behind that badge

Guess those “cops” who don’t care about first amendment rights, should join ICE if they just want to kill citizens exercising their constitutional freedoms. MAGA is in every level of power including those pretending to protect and serve.

The police state that the GOP said would happen under Obama and Democrats has materialized under Trump and the GOP. A lot of these cops would be Trumpers too. They don't give a damn about our rights.

Zachary Stayton of Covington Police Department was suspended without pay after an internal review for all of 30 days for repeatedly beating the face down and completely subdued peaceful protester. He faced no criminal charges; was forced to undergo remedial training; & is employed by CPD today.

Hail the Confederacy, violating U.S. Constitutional Rights & specializing in Police Brutality since the 1860's. "Back the Blue" brutality of the Black-n-Blued? Well, one American consistency, pure & abject police brutality & use of excessive force, the central function of policing in America 🇺🇸

If that was your point then may I ask why you didn't state it in the original post you did? It really does come off like it's not important because it didn't happen today. It's still important, regardless of age as it shows systematic abuse of power and assualt on people's 1st amendment.

This horrid footage being distributed on BS is a year old? I hate when people do that. 😡 However, given the age of the footage, do we know the extent of of the young man’s injuries and if he received any compensation or who this vile police officer is and what happened to him?

We are allowing the recreation of every fascist regime to ever exist in the history of the world. We turned our heads as police brutalized people of color, labor strikes, student protests and the chickens are once again coming home to roost. We must and can stop this.
