If Miliband's comparatively mild, caveated, and strictly targeted criticism of Israeli settler actions are enough to endanger the UK Jewish community & unleash pogroms then: a) We've passed some point of no return. b) Successive UK governments have utterly failed in addressing antisemitism.

Also, while I think everyone has a responsibiltiy to combat antisemitism and violent extremism, it seems dubious that Netenyahu can do and say whatever he wants - no matter how incendiary - but other governments can't criticize his actions for fear of endangering their Jewish communities.

If the argument is that Israel's global reputation is directly correlated to the safety of the Jewish diaspora then surely no one has a bigger responsibility to safeguard that reputation than Israel's Prime Minister. ... and he doesn't appear to give a shit.

People seem quite happy to call out Trump for what he's doing in Iran and elsewhere, without thought of the impact it might have on Americans, or even Christians, so am I being over-simplistic to think that this is the same thing? We're surely criticising the man, not people of the same faith.

Yes we've past a very dangerous marker, it's effectively now impossible to criticise Israel and their many completely unacceptable actions without being labelled antisemitic. Exactly as Netanyahu demand, Israel are now basically above any international law.

Bibi wants perpetual war as that’s the only way he can stay in office (& keep mobilising the reserves for active service.) Greater Israel & regional hegemony go hand in hand. And forcing the diaspora to emigrate to Israel is grist to the mill for the new Trojan state that he’s creating.☹️

Israel’s reach is long and sinister. Apparently Milliband is the wrong kind of Jew and an antisemite. As Jews will tell you there is no Jewish group think. They have a saying “two Jews three opinions”. It’s a very broad and varied synagogue.

Being precise with your language is extremely Important. The replies of Zara Sultana and Netanyahu (inevitably) were examples of the exact opposite.

Absolutely nobody is doing him the honour of applying the same level of care in the language they use in their critiques of what he said, or even in having understood exactly what he said, and that must be utterly infuriating to him.
