The bar for progressive policies is: "did this unilaterally solve the entire gigantic systemic issue without making a single person sad?" The bar for conservative policies is: "did the people pushing this yell out the name of a real problem before doing something unrelated, cruel and ineffective?"

Opposing a policy that would increase city revenue because the city doesn't have enough revenue, chef's kiss.

Yeah, a lot of the time it falls firmly into the category of, "could you theoretically imagine a level of <thing> whereby it could be a problem if there were no safeguards, even though there isn't now, the safeguards are in place, and there's no sign of a trend in that direction."

These types of pundits see 1) conservatives as toddlers, 2) themselves as the toddler's parents, and 3) progressives as the toddler's day care staff. We love and encourage our children and do not expect them to know how to solve every problem. We have high standards for those who care for them.

Also, the city has balanced its budget under a socialist mayor for the first time in many decades. A feat that all the capitalist mayors before Mamdani were too stupid to achieve. American and British capitalism produces gigantic quantities of highly educated morons.
