Per a family member in East Tennessee who works at a BBQ joint, the Trumpers at work are MAD about Trump and Vance’s attack on Zelenskyy + the mass firing of veterans who work for the federal government. So that’s a data point

That they’re upset about the veterans doesn’t surprise me That they’re upset about Zelensky really really does! That means they’re picking a foreigner OVER their man Trump. WTF is up with that?? Can you explain? I don’t know any MAGA but this seems really significant. I didn’t think I’d see it.

I’m the same era or maybe a smidge younger so I get that. Not so much pro Zelensky as anti-Russia - which is an entirely different kind of evil now than it was then but MAGA are not strong on the details. What breaks my brain is they didn’t notice him being a Russian asset the first time around.

Ok I get that “old Americans hate Russia” also applies to MAGA but 1. More than they love Trump?? 2. Didn’t they notice that he was a Ruzz asset the FIRST time? Are they really only picking up on this now? Seriously, I was under the impression that MAGA was just fine with Russia. So puZZled.

"didn't they notice the first time?" No. They didn't want to and there was always some Fox pundit telling them why it was okay. It is hard to find a better word than "heartbreaking" to describe the scope of ignorance boasted by conservatives voting against themselves because they don't/can't get it

Before, Trump's relationship with Russia was a bit abstract for low information voters. Ukraine's fight matches a lot of stories that are deeply embedded in American culture, and that's much less abstract. Also, Trump & Vance's behavior violated every norm of hospitality.
