If you want a classic example of society's pathological denial of sapphic existence, these two characters literally kiss and go on a date in the last episode and to this day people will deny this and ship them with male characters.

Sen, but Spooky@dresdencodak.com

Kill la Kill is one of my favorite series for a lot of reasons, but my favorite is how they had a slow-burn joke of Mako over-explaining things through the show to culminate in the most hilariously unavoidable Yes, Homo scenes in an anime

"But Gamagoori-" The flipside of denying sapphic relationships is projecting hetero pairings onto platonic relationships. Mako is gay, and Gamagoori simply thinks Mako rules because he respects stubborn women with firm convictions (Sastuki, etc). What, a guy can't be a lesbian's hype man?

I can literally hear Gamagoori giving one of his outrageous speeches chiding someone for assuming that his appreciation for Mako is at all romantic. "YOU DARE IMPLY MANKANSHOU'S IRON WILL AND STEADFAST HEART IS UNWORTHY OF APPRECIATION IN ITSELF???" All while wearing an "ally" pride shirt of course
