Poor Miguel... "MMAcevedo, also known as Miguel, is the earliest executable image of a human brain...it was the first to be captured with sufficient fidelity that it could be run in simulation on computer hardware without succumbing to cascading errors, and rapidly crashing." qntm.org/lena

Yeah, that's it! We DEFINITELY should create that thing that the writer warned us about by writing a whole novel about how it was a Very Bad Thing that caused Huge Suffering.

i need Neal Stephenson to stop being fucking right about the future right fucking now “Fall; or, Dodge in Hell” called AI psychosis and now brains locked in a video game and he simply cannot keep getting away with this

If it helps any, connectomes don't have any information about firing patterns, temporality, support structures (that also compute), neurotransmitter flow, etc. that are required for anything approaching consciousness.

We will get there at some point, if we do we need to come up with an ethics for handling these simulations like we currently do with animal models. Although I think they shouldn't be meaningfully different from what we have now, my other concern would be overreliance on one simulation rather than

connectomes are nowhere near actual mind uploading; this is, AFAICT, training a regular artificial neural network with the topology of a fly brain

The fly brain can play shooters The visuals are rendered into the fly eyes and brain decides where to turn. The courtship song is responsible for shooting. The more aroused the fly is the harder it tries to shoot. it works in the browser, you can try it yourself (preferably webgpu) aimbug.domi.zip
