Pretty screwy. NRA did a great job of conflating "freedom" and gun ownership. As long as I gots muh guns and freedumbs.

Forty years of calling taxes tyranny and gun regulations communism. The NRA didn't sell guns. They sold an identity. Turns out an identity is a lot harder to regulate than a firearm.
