Everyone wants you to download their app, every business seems to be primarily a data harvesting operation for whom actually providing a service is incidental, you have to subscribe to everything instead of buying it, and now everything has a chatbot you don't need and can't turn off grafted on

The defining experience of modern capitalism is tedious bullshit that's transparently trying to exploit or addict you. Every transaction sucks, every business is openly hostile, every government regulation is gutted or openly flouted. We live in a series of interconnected Skinner boxes.

It was annoying when businesses used to pretend they were passionate about vacuum cleaners or whatever but it's so much worse now that they are all Curating the Premier Air Sucking Experience for The Community of Vacuum Enthusiasts

"Subscribe to MegaSuck, our AI-native air sucking ecosystem! Ask VacBot all your vacuum related questions (note: answers could be wrong, don't ask questions unless you know the answer already). Maps your home for free ads from partners! Must be logged in to vacuum. May not vacuum."

I was just complaining about this. it's awful! bsky.app/profile/bfwr...

everything is fucked up and nonsensical in order to serve capital. I get a survey every time I turn around, I can't escape tech I don't want to use, (as noted in the comments with shared culture) I can't figure out music anymore, and everyone/thing blatantly lies. it's disorienting/ungrounding.

I've seen it referred to as "we're living in a scam economy" and I think that's completely accurate. What you're describing is a major component of what allows the scam economy to keep scamming us all.

The fact that eBay is so hype for me to buy using THE APP that every time I desktop-visit their site they offer ten whole dollars to buy via THE APP is the #1 reason I'm leery (read: "HELL no") of installing THE APP. If that's worth $10 to them, then the data they cull is worth waaaaay more.
