Fun (painful) SEO fact. I oversaw the (unsuccessful) migration of a very popular travel brand that was aquired by a well known financial (pay later) brand. From the outset, myself & others I worked with, said it was a very bad idea. The result? The original brand died.

But the brand aquirer SEO was adamant. Apples to oranges, never works. Worse still, you kill the fundamental of why the site worked. This is the beauty of SEO, we've done this a thousand times and more. Personally, i learned a dev technique. The other SEO learned lessons came true.

I rarely say never. I merely point out what they'd need to do to surpass the reputation of every other new car dealer selling that model, and Ford themselves. If they have the billions, there's always a way.

IMO, that is like ranking for something that you can't convert and is a total waste of my time and most importantly clients money. Unlike many SEO I do believe if I rank something it DESERVES to rank and is a positive addition ie it improves the SERP! I see your point... just a different opinion

Well, the whole point of it is to evolve into something that CAN convert such traffic, by selling what the customer is looking for - thus the scale of investment required. Needless to say, once that's understood, most clients rethink, but still get the idea of evolution, just with more realism.
