I lived on Cheerios for both rounds of firstline chemo (4/5 years apart) & then someone who'd done chemo suggested chips & sure enough I could eat that. I think it mostly depends what you can tolerate food-wise. Not the healthiest of foods, but my oncs thought it preferable to not eating at all.
I got through them, or parts of them, because food is necessary for life and I don't think you can call Ms. Vickie's chips "food". But sometimes I would be too close to actual throwing up and I would have to avoid them.
I would also just force myself to eat neutral things that the whole family was eating, despite the fact that I in no way wanted to eat them. Potatoes, rice, pork chops, whatever veg was offered --
I don't think either did anything to stop the nausea, but they were foods I could tolerate eating. As I went on, I started adding honey and cinnamon to the cheerios. Depending on your sched, you get some time off from the actual throwing up days.
