Here ( Québec ) we have laws to prevent divers, boats to harrass whales ( especially when they have calves ), there is a huge fine if you get caught within 30 meters from them of if you stand in their path. Please leave them alone and watch them from a safe distance.

My bad, it's not 30 meters, it's 100 and some species it's 400 meters ( when there's a calf ). The fines are up to 500 000$ and jail time. So yeah, there nothing glorious doing what you just did. baleinesendirect.org/en/100-metre...
