fortunately the same people who support Rowlings bigotry are furious that Snape is black and they aren't sexually attracted to Hermione, so it's not going to make that 10 year commitment. Everyone is angry at it.

Lots of good points in the article itself, but I think the name is a bit of a miss. It's fine to watch childhood media (low quality or not) if it isn't hurting people. The fact that this is is really the only point that matters.

I didn't choose the title (authors rarely do) but I am glad they chose it because it's gesturing to a need to mature out of childhood nostalgia and reckon with how the franchise is weaponising childhood. It does not mean 'growing up = not watching childhood media'.

Then by that logic isn't mentioning the show to tell people not to watch it on social media also helping her? Like isn't the original post also helping Rowling now by simply mentioning the shows existence?

"Don't platform" doesn't work when something has its own platform. I'm not tying myself in knots to justify hatewatching the trans genocide show but clicking my tongue at people saying not to do that.

I disagree. No money is made through piracy. If you encourage it only through piracy no money is made. Tell people never to watch through HBO and if someone is considering it send them the pirated versions you have. Piracy is always good

Again i have zero interest in this show. But some people want to see it so instead of trying in vain to tell them not to ever watch it instead we should encourage piracy among those that have that urge to watch it.

You can see how popular something is when using a bittorent client and how many seeds/leeches there are. I'm guessing they have other internal systems for estimating. Studios use the seeds to log IP addresses to send to ISPs, who issue notices to pirates and they can lose internet service.

JKR is a hero who is supported by MILLIONS of people. She is not transphobic in any way. All she does is protect the dignity, rights and safety of biological women and girls. She will be remembered for her courage long after we are all gone

I was gonna re-up HBO in a couple weeks when House of the Dragon restarts to watch that and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and then I found out the Harry Potter series was on HBO.
