I came to @bsky.app for a number of reasons but the most important was that people I care about are/feel safer here keeping that true is THE most important thing please, bsky team, keep this place safe for everyone 🙏

Bsky adoption will probably reverse if they start banning people for what they do off bsky. I can already feel how the discourse on bsky has been chilled recently and you can see it in the usage numbers too. I'd say any such policy is incompatible with VC funding that want ROI.

the chill you are feeling is caused by people not feeling safe.

That is not supported by numbers.

When I create a new user on x I see lots and lots of right wing friendly content. When I create a new user on bsky I see lots and lots of left wing friendly content. On old twitter I used to see both. I miss the days where right and left wingers were angry at the same moderation team.

Are there other social media sites that enforce "no sharing of content from users that blocked you" even on other platforms? There's no technically reliable way of doing this, so it does not seem like a reasonable demand. And it's definitely coming from the more left wing side.

that's not the issue. I'm told singhal has publicly shared medical documents from people without their permission, for example but I'm not an expert. my point is the importance of listening to OTHER people, the ones who don't feel safe. take THEM seriously.

So I knew nothing about this yesterday and had to go sleuthing and it appears to refer to this: bsky.app/profile/jess... It bears being mentioned that he published an anonymous small excerpt.

I'm thinking this is a test for bsky. If they are willing to piss off the left wing on this then bsky has a chance of becoming the public town square that we lost with x.

I left x because it had become a cesspool of far right bigotry. The harassment is going on in the open. It's a filthy place and I don't like it. I don't want there to be a right wing echo chamber and a left wing echo chamber I can choose between. I want a place that equally pisses of both sides.
