That’s exactly my argument when people say that liberals hate America. No, we absolutely don’t. We love her so we want to nurse her back to health, take care of her and love her, and we demand better of the people in charge of her.

'Democrat' does not mean 'cowed pacifist'. Democracy is the best HUMAN way of governing. A real one is hard to achieve, but so worth it; it takes care of EVERYONE. And that's what a country should DO! Take care of everyone in it!

I've never considered the House or Senate Leader to be the head of the Democratic Party. No doubt the Party lacks leadership right now but it is this ongoing dialogue that will see Leadership emerge after getting beat so badly last year.

I’m a New Democrat (since 2020) from California and I think @schiff.senate.gov would be a terrific leader for the Senate Democrats. I was so impressed with Adam’s courage & integrity during the impeachment trial of Trump! Schumer is just not brave enough to do battle with the MAGA Republicans!

You can be a bad American. Like me. These party labels are not my identity. Only about a third of the electorate were registered Dems during last election. Our two party system has helped destroy democracy. These dominant parties deserve more blame than praise.

You can't be a good human being and not demand more from the party. We are in danger of becoming the ordinary people in 1933 Germany that just "went along with it".

And therein lies the difference.... It's not about one person... If something is wrong.. It needs to be changed

Exactly. Seniority should mean nothing. It's not that hard for a Dem to hold their seat in a solid blue state. Those kinds of Dems grow complacent and inattentive to their party. We need real leaders. People who can pass bills for the party not just compromise morals to get anything passed.

Republicans sure had no problem fighting everything Dems did. The problem is Dems are too risky averse. They won't try if there is a chance they might fail. We can't fight everything means we can't win everything so we won't bother unless the chance of winning is 100%. So our chances drop to 0.

It’s simple: in one out of three elections they ran a non-Ivy Leaguer, modest, old fashioned, not polished, open to learn but with conviction and a strong sense of place. That’s one won. Replace the whole leadership with people like that.

Ironic since Schumer is the one that knocked on Biden's door and said it was time to step down. Biden did, for the greater good and for the country. Schumer should follow his example.
