Imagine if, four years after invading Iraq, we controlled only 20% of it and had suffered 1.3 million casualties. Would anyone call that “winning”? Of course not. But when it’s Russia, we’re supposed to believe Putin holds all the cards.

Twenty percent of Iraq and 1.3 million casualties would never be called winning. But Putin bleeds his country dry and gets the 'master strategist' treatment. The bar is on the floor and he is still under it.
