Solid list! Sadly, I've tried to play Xenogears a couple times, but never finished. I still haven't played Chrono Cross yet. =( I've wanted to replay 6 again too. I might add FFXII if it were my list. I've played it like 5 times now. The combat is so darn interesting! Almost like programming.

Aah.... 12. I really dislike that one. Most forgettable cast and villain in the series post 8-bit (along 13). The music is meh at best (and it's from the same composer as fft). The plot was bland. To me it is the phantom menace of final fantasy. But yeah gambit is a nice way to control your party.

Whaaat? The soundtrack for 12 is one of my favorites! I like most things by Hitoshi Sakimoto though. But you're right, the villain and story are a bit meh. I think the interesting battle system makes up for it all though. Every battle system after 12 has been a bit of a disappointment.
