thank you for giving me my first job out of college and then! being one of the best bosses I ever had. I'm really grateful for every chance you took on me. I loved learning from you, and whoever has that pleasure next is extremely lucky. so my shower won't stop leaking

megan, i bet it's a water heater issue. @charstring.com do you think you could install a new one? and i know megan has been having some trouble with her AC too, so maybe give that a look while you're there?

if you've got time after that, my fire alarm is messed up. can't change the battery at all it's currently beeping from the confines of my freezer

well you see, many new smoke alarms have permanent 10-yr batteries, so the solution is to replace it. Your landlord should handle this for you, or offer reimbursement if you do it yourself. Grab the part number from the back, put it back in the freezer, and order one. Should be an easy swap!

You should also kill the old one and sever its soul for good by driving a screwdriver through its heart (instructions usually on the casing itself)

(ALSO do yourself a favor and make sure to get a photoelectric one, and not an ionization one. Way fewer false alarms, and better at detecting smoldering fires which is how most fire-related deaths occur)
