How I understand it... The owners at @wwfc.com are trying to fundamentally change how the club is structured, and how it is run, from top-to-bottom. This is based on having a first-class academy that ultimately helps the club become self-sufficient and gives the owner a return on his investment.

Agree! Easy to get lost in the fact that there is a long-term plan, which has been communicated, and is grounded in some successful examples. But you're right, the short-termism of the first-team decisions is making it feel less stable/enjoyable and seems to run contrary to a lot of the bigger plans

It feels a worrying contradiction to what they have communicated so far (quite well in my opinion). Duff was right that it's a really tough league this year. There is an argument that he wasn't getting the most out of the team, but I'm not sure another coach makes that big a difference!

Agree - I think that would be a great contribution to a future fans' forum, for what it's worth! Yeah, I don't see anyone else getting any more out of the team, especially with the dearth of options right now. I have frankly no clue who they'll go for...

Especially when it was such a change from Dodds to Duff. My instinct is they'll go back to a younger, less experienced coach. But that maybe doesn't fit in with their impatience with the first-team?

If Hounsell does well I'm sure he'll be in with a chance, otherwise I reckon someone unknown (maybe foreign?). I really don't know 🤷🏻‍♂️ With such a weak spine to the team I'm not sure it makes a difference. They didn't honour Duff's recruitment requirements at all.

Yeah, think he's in with a chance. Find the first-team coach appointment a bit strange today. Doesn't necessarily mean Hounsell will get it (presumably just replacing Alex Morris), but why wouldn't you want the new Head Coach to have a say on who they are working so closely with?

I think this is my point about reducing disruption & creating continuity. The head coach just works with who is there, rather than bringing in his own people. It then reduces the impact if/when either of them goes. Does make it a bigger challenge to get personalities that work well together!

Yeah, I think you're right that it's in order to reduce disruption, but that goes out of the window when you're sacking managers after less than a year! I wonder how big the impact of who managers work with is...
