Want to know why I made these pins? I did this thread when I first released the trans version of the pin: bsky.app/profile/cano...

I wanted to make a pride pin that highlighted trans expertise. So many of the trans people I know have advanced degrees in their subjects and yet I rarely see trans people shown as experts in the media. Even on trans-centric topics, cis experts often make up the entire panel!

The inspiration behind my pins is sharing that experts and queerness are not at odds. We're often the same people. My own expertise is forest ecology, so lots of my designs feature queer science facts from nature. This tree was the 1st and I'm planning lots more canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/1813...

My doctor in the ICU was wearing a she/they pronoun pin. It's the first thing I remember as I came out of a medical coma. It felt like grabbing a life raft. I was still intubated, I pointed at the "they" part and then myself. The doctor gently said, "I know, you are a they, too." Pins do help

Thanks! @nora.zone had a similar idea and, while it's not in my plans to create one, I'd encourage either of you to take the concept and make it happen :)

That would be so cool! It's probably a bit outside what I'm planning to make in the next year or so but I'm very happy for someone else to take the idea and run with it for other titles. I'll even share suppliers and tips if it's helpful!
