Nothing like a plumbing emergency in the morning to sharpen ones wits. Toilet cistern constantly filling. Ended up turning off at stop-cock until I can get someone out. Sigh.

It's one of those where the cistern is hidden behind a panel in a cupboard. I didn't install the bathroom, and didn't have time to figure it out this morning. It's a standard unit so hoping access is behind the slim panel with the flush button on it.

Update on the plumber situation. Our regular plumber may be available this afternoon or tomorrow to sort it out. It's not that I can't do plumbing, it's fairly straightforward these days. I just don't like doing it. The fear of much water damage caused by an ill-fitting or dislodged pipe.

Similar here, in that I fear water damage, especially when I’m likely unaware of it 🫣 I often walk into the utility room checking for water on floor. I’ve managed to blow up electrical items by touching wires, so prefer to stay away from that too, figuring I am highly likely to cock something up!

Whoever installed mine didn't like the gap between the bowl and cabinet and so filled it with a couple of tubes of silicone sealant, turning a 10 minute job to replace a leaking flush pipe seal into quite the ordeal. At least the stuff that dissolves the silicone smells nice... 🍊 Good luck!

Oh, one of those with a value which always gets stuck. Supposedly designed to save water but due to issues with the design not "failing safe" actually causes worse over all water consumption. At work the buildings manager was constantly fixing them.

Normally the flush panel pops off if you push it gently up. Or down. Could be sideways, I suppose. There's a spring.

This last couple of weeks I've freed a seized pump, replaced a ball valve, bled and re-filled a heating loop, replaced a heating controller and a zone valve, freed some thermostatic valves and cleared and checked a wood burning stove and flue. It must be winter...

I was at the eye hospital for yearly checkup and the nurse was giving me the clicker for the Field test. The cable was old school like an 80s phone. As she untangled it she said I'd be old enough to remember those phone and how the 80s and certain music reminds her of then boyfriends Spectrum

Good to at least turn off the water while it’s leaking itself. I may have incurred a huge water bill because I didn’t think the toilet tank constantly gurgling could be that bad…. “mistakes were made”. I think our issue is a toilet flapper that’s past its prime

Will your anxiety dream be based on Mario or Pipemania, we wonder? If it was a sitcom the plumber, would would be Italian and have a massive moustache. And you'd find him knocked out in the bathroom out because he'd stepped on the kids' turtle bath toy.

"Please - send an ambulance as soon as you can. I don't know his full name. He's called Mario and he's a plumber and he seems to have stepped on a turtle while he was trying to fix the pi... Hello? Hello?"

Had the same last week, but ours was leaking down the soil pipe onto electronics. Fortunately I heard the sizzling before it went on fire. If you were a bit closer, I’d recommend an excellent plumber, but it’s a bit of a hike from here.
