We got a few questions about the Ultra SCSI Fast20 beta firmware so I wanted to share some details! This is an overclock to the Pico1/2 that allows the latter to almost saturate a 20MB/sec Ultra SCSI Fast20 bus! Real world results will vary of course, but here’s what we’ve seen so far! (1/6) 🧵

First you’ll need a SCSI card that supports FAST20 – We have a list of ones tested. These are usually not narrow cards so either have to have a 50p port for backwards compatibility or an adapter. It’ll need high bit term. For Macs this really only came in optional cards in the G3/4 line (2/6)

Here we see @jokker115.bsky.social SGI O2 maxing out around 16.82MB/sec on a BlueSCSI v2 fitted with a Pico2, which is pretty great real world performance on a 20MB/sec FAST20 bus. If you have an early/mid 90’s workstation, BlueSCSI v2 with a Pico 2 (3/6)
