URGENT: Congress is scheduled to vote on a bill next week that could doom critically endangered North Atlantic right #whales to extinction. Fewer than 400 of these whales remain, and entanglement in commercial #fishing gear is one of the leading causes of their deaths. Take action ➡️ bit.ly/4qJ8KM0

Of the ~356 whales remaining, only 1/10 of them, approx. 33, are breeding females. Their survival depends on just 33 females. NOAA says that "fixed fishing gear" (code for lobster pots) is a major cause of death. Here in New England, the lobster industry is more important than a species extinction.

to clarify my point..its the lobster dealers and brokers who put money and profit above whale preservation. Most of the the lobster fishermen that I've spoken to would implement live saving technology if available and affordable. The monied interests however, lobby hard and buy/scare politicians

Next week Congress is set to vote on H.R. 9436, a bill that would extend the rider through 2035, once again delaying lifesaving action for right whales. We urgently need you to tell your legislators to reject this deadly bill and to oppose any other efforts to delay protections for these whales.
